Artwork «The Ballet» is full of hidden Russian symbols. On the background the artist uses one of the most famous houses in Russian architecture history: Stalin's skyscrapers. The Ballerina - obviously is inherent part of Russian culture. The black petroleum is the source through which the country can have the ballet as well as the beautiful architecture. Sergey Shekhovtsov reformulated the sculpture, deprived it of patrimonial pathos. He shows the world as a synthetic illusion and total readiness for mutation. His ironic objects refer to different intonations and different points of the artistic tradition - antiquity and pop art, totalitarian plastic and ancient sacred objects. His foam pop art glorifies modernity and mocks it. Shekhovtsov is the same iconic artist of the zeros as the nonconformists for the sixties. In 2017, he represented Russia at the Venice Biennale. More than 20 exhibitions, including in the State Tretyakov Gallery, galleries and museums in France, Brazil, Germany and Luxembourg.
